NORTH PLATTE, Neb. It was the 17th Annual G.R.E.E.N. Fundraising event. The acronym stands for Generating Resources for Educational Excellence Now.

The event benefits the North Platte Catholic Schools and came with a dinner, silent auction and dueling pianos.

Endowment Director Wendy Dodson said they have more participation this year than last.

The money helps pay teachers salaries, tuition assistance and other needs.

"It really is an investment," said Dodson.

"I don't think only for our Catholic Community or our Catholic School Community. Because, if we have strong school systems in North Platte it's good for all of us."

The G.R.E.E.N. fundraiser helps the school meet their goal of $600,000 for the year.
