Strength training class adds balance to the lives of seniors

North Platte A low-impact weight strengthening class helps seniors build strong and healthy bodies.

The class is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 am to 11 am at the North Platte Senior Center.

Jon Wieseler, a physical therapist at Platte Valley Physical Therapy, is in his eighth year teaching the class.

He says building strength, flexibility and improving balance are extremely critical as you get older.

"Not everybody is the same, you can't throw out the same exercise and everybody is going to kind of get the same response, so I try to encourage that," Wieseler said. "People make judgements about their movement and they have the freedom to not do what I am doing or tell them to do, but to discover for themselves what works best for them."

The cost is $25 for the eight week session or $3 a day.
