GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- Authorities are investigating a string of outgoing mail thefts in Central Nebraska.
The Hall County Sheriff's Office said in a release they have seen a series of mail thefts from Dec. 1, 2018, to Feb. 10, 2019.
"If you placed outgoing mail in a street, or roadside mailbox to be picked up, you will want to make sure any checks that were in that mail were not altered and were actually cashed by the intended recipient," the sheriff's office said in a release.
They are asking people make sure that the payee or the amounts were not changed, and that it is possible checks mailed may not have reached their intended destination.
Authorities are also asking people who live outside of Hall County that may have been a victim to contact the sheriff's office at 308-385-5200.
