IMPERIAL, Neb. (KNOP) - Weather officials are telling us multiple tornadoes touched down in Chase County Monday evening. Preliminary reports say four tornadoes touched down but there is not official confirmation yet.

Brandon Thorne is a meteorologist at the National Weather Service. He says reports wind gusts reached as high as 89 miles per hour. Hail stones were about an inch and a half, which is about the size of ping pong balls.

Thorne also says a downed tree snapped a power line four miles north of Imperial.
