NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Trap shooting gives kids a chance to use guns and be safe and smart about it.
The North Platte Trap Team celebrated their winning season with a barbecue for kids and their family's Tuesday evening at the Lincoln County Wildlife Gun Club.
Over 2500 6th through 12th graders from around the state competed at the state tournament in Doniphan. North Platte's junior high team took second.
Senior Josh Monie says shooting trap has been a great experience for him, and that he plans to continue shooting at college in Hastings this fall on a scholarship.
Monie says, "Trap shooting is not like other sports where you have to be good with teams. It's more of a personal thing. You've got to really focus and shoot good."
