NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP)- North Platte has been getting festive. The Prairie Arts Center had a tree auction where the public could go to bid on items, eat, drink, and enjoy each others' company. The goal was to raise 15,000 for the Prairie Arts Center, Mikey's Ride, and the North Platte Community Playhouse.
The community spread all over throughout the multiple rooms in the Prairie Arts Center. There were even pieces from 1915. Darrell Drullinger, the Festival Of Trees Organizer, looks forward to this every year.
"I had a couple here this afternoon that had said they've been to all 12 of them. And it's just kind of a way to kick off the holiday season in North Platte as far as I'm concerned this year we did partner with the Carousel of Homes which the two items, the two things together definitely are getting North Platte in the holiday spirit," said Drullinger.
Many saw these trees and pieces as art and enjoyed the display while bidding on their items of choice. The day started with music, food, and the carousel of homes. They also got to say hi to Santa himself! This has been going on for 12 years. Family and friends mingled as they observed the different trees and items they could bid on.
