Lincoln County Commissioners approved to use the D&N Event Center as one of the two live voting locations for the May 12th Primary Elections but they still are searching for poll workers.

Primary elections will be at the D&N Event Center and Berean Church for the city of North Platte voting. The question remains of where rural areas will vote. There are not enough poll workers in each location, which may potentially bring those rural areas into North Platte to vote.

Joe Hewgley, Lincoln County Commissioner, says it has been hard to find workers.

"If they can't get the workers in the rural areas she may have no choice but to have them come into North Platte," said Hewgley.

Information on where rural areas can go to vote will be put on social media and on signs on the original polling areas doors The commissioners encourage anyone who can help to reach out to the County Clerks office. They need 10-15 people for the city presyncs and 10-12 people for the rural presyncs. There is as little as one poll worker in those areas.

"Hopefully the numbers will come up better but today they didn't sound real good so I guess I would just appeal to anybody our there that would have any interest in helping with the election as a poll worker. Please contact the County Clerks office I know they would appreciate any help they can get," said Hewgley.

Election Commissioner Becky Rossell said in the commissioners meeting she thanks who have reached out to help. Changes will be made if they cannot get a sufficient amount of poll workers.
