Western Nebraska faces very little power outages

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The weather across western Nebraska is turning from ice to snow and the wind gusts are affecting those power lines. Luckily, not too many places have been out of power.

Power companies say the outages are primarily in the Mullen area, north of North Platte. Residents in that area will see blinking lights most likely the rest of the night, depending on the winds. Nebraska Public Power District transmission line has been blinking throughout the evening and will continue to do so. But power officials say that just means the system is trying to stay energized. They say it is important however, to stay prepared.

Power officials say to call your electric utility if you do experience an outage, because they are on call and able to send dispatches over.
