"This is a fundraiser for Nebraskaland Days," said Cake Bake Board Member, Jan Wright, "Every dollar that we make will go back to making bigger and better parties for Nebraskaland Days."
The lunch was $10 and included bratwurst, sauerkraut, beans, chips and cake.
After people enjoyed a bratwurst lunch, the cakes from Thursdays Cake Bake were auctioned off to raise fund to continue to put on Nebraskaland Days events.
The auction started with the first place cakes, brought out by Nebraska royalty including Miss Nebraska and Miss Rodeo Nebraska. The cakes were awarded ribbons Thursday and one of the winners of a first place ribbon was Great Plains Health.
"We put a lot of thought into the cake and tried to decide how we could best fit the theme and also fit in the hospital organization into the cake theme so we came up with adding our some of our senior leadership team onto the cake as part of the design," said Ryan Williams, Senior Director of Provider Network Operations with Great Plains Health.
Williams said Nebraskaland Days is a great event and they love being involved.
"It’s just a great community benefit and a good way to get North Platte’s name out into the region," said Williams, "It’s huge for the community. It’s the biggest event that happens we’re just excited to be part of it and we were happy to see that our cake won just makes us feel good as an organization to provide this back to the community."
The money from the cake auction goes to fund future Nebraskaland Days events.
