Winter weather goes through Nebraska

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY through midnight Friday.

As the storm system pushes through the state Friday, spotty areas of showers or drizzle may give over to a wintry mix in the evening as temperatures drop. North Platte may be on the western fringe of a trace of snow through Friday night, but clearly most of the moisture and snowfall will be over the north central, central and eastern Nebraska. Look for strong winds in the wake of this storm on Friday night with gusts in the 40 to 50 mph range through the region.

FRIDAY: Mostly Cloudy. 30% freezing drizzle mixed with some light snow. Afternoon drizzle or a shower possible. Very windy Friday night. Highs in the upper 30s. South wind 10-20 mph gusting to 35 mph.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly Cloudy. Very windy. 80% chance of evening showers or even a snow shower then clearing skies late overnight. Lows near 20. Northwest winds 20-30 mph gusting to 45 mph.

SATURDAY: Mostly sunny. Breezy. Highs in the upper 30s to near 40. Northwest winds 10 to 20 mph gusting to 25 mph.

SUNDAY: Sunny. Highs in the mid 30s.
