Women entrepeneurs making a difference in their community

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Friday March 3, 2019 is International Women's Day. It is a day to celebrate all the amazing women in our lives that make a difference. Some of those women are paving the way in North Platte. Whether they are helping us stay stylish, caring for dogs or designing living spaces these women have something in common. These women all took a leap of faith to follow their dreams and make their visions come to life.

Dawn Brosius of Paws-A-Palooza, Libby Lashley of Swan's Furniture Home and Shelly Halouska of Refined Boutique all became owners of a business within the past year. They say starting a business or anything new for that matter can be tough, but worth it. All it takes is a little research. Shelly Halouska said, "I think the more knowledge you have, the better equipped you will be at whatever it is you chose to do."

Being knowledgeable and taking small steps can give anyone the confidence they need to follow their dreams. Dawn Brosius said, "If you have a dream and if you have ambition to try something new and branch out like that, I would say by all means."

The women entrepreneurs believe anything is possible if you work hard. Libby Lashley said ,"You can achieve anything, but it takes a vision and a dream."

These local business owners say they're happy to be their own boss, but know it wouldn't be possible without the support from the community.
