3 new sports approved for 2019 Cornhusker State Games

LINCOLN, Neb. — The Nebraska Sports Council (NSC) Board of Directors approved the addition of three new sports to the 2019 Cornhusker State Games, including Cornhole, Kart Racing and Miniature Golf. Dates for 2019 events include: Nebraska Corporate Games – April 26-28, Golf For Gold Scramble – June 10, Cornhusker State Games – July 19-28, Mud Run – Aug. 24, Pumpkin Run – Oct. 5 and NSC Awards Banquet – Nov. 7.

The Board also elected Rob Trebilcock as its 16th President. Trebilcock, Senior Community Affairs Officer at Bank of the West, succeeds Lincoln Convention & Visitors Bureau Executive Director Jeff Maul, who stepped down after a two-year term.

Also elected as officers were Scott Haas, Division Director of Orthopaedics at CHI Health, as Vice President, and Baird Holm Attorney Stephanie Mattoon to the position of Secretary/Treasurer.

Retired Nebraska National Guard Brigadier General Keith Schell, now Manager of Component Services and Parts and Rotable Sales at Duncan Aviation, joins the Board along with Cornhusker State Games Sport Directors Molly Nance (Open Water Swimming) and Todd Fitzgerald (5K Road Race). Nance is the Director of Communications and PR for the Daugherty Water For Food Global Institute and Fitzgerald, a Lincoln community health advocate, has served on the Lincoln Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, the Northeast YMCA Board and is a Past President of the Board for Teach A Kid To Fish.

The Nebraska Sports Council Board of Directors meets quarterly and provides oversight for all Nebraska Sports Council events and programs.
