The North Platte boys soccer team was the eight-seed in the state soccer tournament in Omaha, and took top ranked Omaha Skutt Catholic in the first round on Wednesday.

Benjamin Bausback scored on a penalty kick early in the first half to put the Skyhawks on the board, and Caleb Vos put one in the back of the net later in the half.

Bulldogs goalkeeper Nathan Ostrander had seven saves in the game, but that was not enough as the Bulldogs were shutout 2-0, ending their season.

"You know they were really well organized today, they were all over us anytime we had the ball. I thought that in the second half we did a little bit of a better job of confronting them higher up the field, able to win the ball up the field a little bit higher and that contributed a little bit to more of an attack in the second half where as the first half, we sat a little deep, we let them come at us and they gained momentum and got those two goals in the first half," said North Platte head coach Danny Whitney.
