ARNOLD, Neb. (KNOP)--- This week's Game of the Week features a C2 vs D1 match-up:
the Maxwell Wildcats head to Arnold to take on the South Loup Bobcats seeking revenge from a game before the holidays.
Facing off just a few weeks ago as the Bobcats got the 60-27 win at Maxwell in the championship game of the Maxwell Booster Club Tournament, Maxwell head coach Brent Dinslage has been preparing his squad for the rematch.
He praises their skills and said his team is focusing on combating press coverage.
Maxwell basketball coach Brent Dinslage said, "Their full court press is very tenacious. They're all over you, they're very aggressive, they're very quick. We just didn't do a very good job of handling it the last time. So, trying to put in a couple of things as far as press breakers, help give us a chance to at least get in the half court set, and see how that helps us."
Now the Bobcats have struggled a little off the glass at times this season and coach Cole says they need to clean up their shooting a bit.
But the press is a big part of their game plan since the one time they didn't press this season, they ended up with a loss.
The team is ready to see a fired up Maxwell squad.
South Loup basketball coach Jeff Cole said, "We're going to have to keep them out of transition, have to be strong on the glass and you know, we had a lot of success with our press in the first time with them and hopefully we can put a lot of pressure on them and convert turnovers into easy baskets."
Senior guard Leighton Bubak said, "They're a good team and if they hit their shots, it can be a close game so we still have to be prepared."
Senior point guard Kalen Dockweiler said, "They like to run a gun a little bit and just rebounding. We struggled rebounding against them especially in the Holiday Tournament, so that's something we'll want to improve and we just got to keep improving that."
