Gothenburg basketball hosts North Platte, Maxwell hosts S-E-M for exhibition

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The high school winter sports season starts on Thursday, Dec. 5, and to prepare, locals teams hosted jamborees Monday.

Gothenburg hosted North Platte Monday. The Swedes' boys' team finished 5-17 in Class C1 last year, and the girls' team finished 6-17. The Bulldogs were in Class B in 2018-19, but move to Class A in 2019-20. The girls' team finished 12-10 last year, while the boys team finished 4-16.

The Swedes open their season on Thursday, hosting Lexington, while the Bulldogs head west to Scottsbluff for the Western Conference Tournament.

In Maxwell, the Wildcats hosted Sumner-Eddyville-Miller. The Maxwell boys' basketball team had a 10-13 record last season, and the girls' team was 11-11. The Wildcats start their season on Friday, heading to Thedford to play Sandhills-Thedford
