LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska’s game with Akron has been cancelled and the Huskers will open the 2018 against Colorado next Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT.
Any adjustments to the 2018 football schedule will be announced at a later date.
Nebraska Communications said ticket holders are encouraged to hold on to their tickets from Saturday's game.
Prior to that Fox Sports reported the game would be postponed to Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and that it would be televised on FS1. We now know that report was incorrect.
Nebraska's football game with Akron was suspended at 7:15 p.m. following the opening kickoff due to lightning. The game was continuously delayed due to further lightning sightings.
Any lightning strike within eight miles initiates a 30-minute delay. That clock starts over with every strike inside the eight-mile halo.
