Huskers vball hosts Hofstra Pride in first round of NCAA tournament

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP)- The Huskers volleyball team looks to repeat as NCAA champions in this year's tournament, which starts Friday, Nov. 30.

The Huskers come in to the tournament as the number seven seed overall, and will play their first game at the Devaney Center against the Hofstra Pride. That game will start at 7 p.m.

The Pride finished their season 25-7 overall, with a 13-3 record in the Colonial Athletic Association.

If the Huskers advance, they will play the winner of Arizona and Missouri, that game would be played at Devaney as well.

The volleyball team hosted a private watch party. Afterwards, some of the players shared their feelings on the tournament and their chances to repeat.

"It's nice to see the workouts from the summer and the matches that we played are finally paying off and we're going to get to show people what we're all about now in the tournament," said senior libero Kenzie Maloney.

"We definitely have a different group of girls and we're super close knit and I think that will definitely be one of our strengths going into the tournament and we're feeling confident not only in ourselves but in one another," said senior outside hitter Mikaela Foecke.

There are no more tickets available for purchase, but if there are any visitor ticket returns, they will go on sale on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
