Knights win by 40, led by big game from Tharpe

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The NPCC men's basketball team had its first game since Dec. 14 on Thursday, hosting Hastings College JV.

The Knights started hot, shooting six of eight from three in the first half, and led the Broncos 56-33 at the break, thanks to 22 first half points by sophomore guard DaVonte Tharpe.

The Knights pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Broncos 39-22, en route to the 95-55 win.

The Knights shot 46.2% from the field in the game, including 58.8% from three.

Tharpe led all scorers with 32 points, and was a perfect six of six from beyond the arc. Danilo Matovic and Tim Johnson also scored in double figures, with 15 points each, and Matovic had a double-double, adding ten rebounds.

The Knights move to 4-7 on the season, and are back home Jan. 14, hosting Northeastern Junior College.
