NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Kaleigh Kummer, the all-time leading scorer in St. Pat's history, signed to play basketball at the University of Nebraska at Kearney on Thursday.
When asked how important the factor of being close to home played into her decision to go to UNK, Kummer said, "It was pretty important. Like you could see here, my family and friends came, so I just like to stay close, and Kearney is the perfect place to be. To play at the D-2 level instead of maybe an NAIA is just a better opportunity for me I think."
Kummer said about her visit to UNK, "I loved it. Right away the coaches were super nice, and they're very fun and energetic, same with the players."
Kummer said the Loper coaches want to stay in basketball shape between now and the start of the season.
"We've talked about just keeping up with shooting drills, just every little thing, being quick, staying in shape, just stuff like that," Kummer said.
