After some uncertainty as to whether or not there would be races held this summer, the Lincoln County Raceway opened its gates on Saturday night.

With lots of anticipation and excitement, racers and fans alike were ready for the summer season to commence.

"I know everybody is anxious and ready to go," said driver Brook Baker.

From veterans like Baker himself, to rookies like Paxton Stubbs, there was all levels of experience out on the tracks.

"This is my first time racing here, I've been here to watch but never to race," said Stubbs.

While being on top of the leaderboard is an added bonus, these drivers are here for their love of cars and put in hours of dedication behind the scenes.

"There's a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes on these, the endless hours that go into it is ridiculous," said Brooke Baker.

For racers like Paxton Stubbs, enjoying the ride and having fun is what they hope to take out of the races.

"Just have a lot of fun, that's what racing is all about. I don't have the biggest budget, so you know, I just come out here to do what I love and have fun," said Stubbs.
