Local Legion baseball teams prepare for season to begin Monday

Legion baseball teams will be returning to action in Nebraska starting on June 1. Practices will start on the first, and games can begin June 18. Here is a look at the plans for local teams for this season:

Gothenburg Melons

- A meeting Monday to discuss the season, practice starts Tuesday

- Both a junior and senior team

- Approximately 20 players signed up, some junior players will play for both teams

- First game June 19. limiting to two games a week (Tuesday & Friday)

Lexington Pinnacle Bank

- Worked with City of Lexington for guidelines to play, will limit field use at one time

- Practices starting Monday, first game June 19 at Hastings

- 30 game season

- One team with 23 players, younger players will play against junior teams

Broken Bow Indians

- Practices start Monday, four practices each of first two weeks

- Junior and senior teams

- 14 game schedule, running from June 19 to July 12

Ogallala Adams Bank & Trust/Adams Insurance Advisors

- Player and parent meeting Saturday to discuss and fill out insurance forms

- Hope to start practice Monday

- Junior and senior teams, 16 games each

- Will participate in Mid-Nebraska Baseball League tournament

Imperial Horns

- Starting practice Monday

- Two teams, approximately 24 players between teams

- First game June 18

- Will participate in Mid-Nebraska Baseball League tournament

Cozad Reds

- Start practicing Monday, first game June 20 hosting Ogallala

- Two teams, adding players from ponies onto junior team
