NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - On Saturday, Oct. 19, Midwest Championship Fighting will host its 18th show at the D&N Event Center.

The main event fight will bring national attention to North Platte, as Terrence McKinney (7-2) of Spokane, WA, fights against Darrick Minner (22-10) of Nebraska City.
Both McKinney and Minner previously fought in the Dana White Contender Series.
"The theory is, that if one of the two of these finishes the other, then there's no reason Dana White wouldn't turn his head and look at either one of them to go to the UFC immediately, and I've never had anyone go directly from the MCF cage, directly to the UFC cage, so that's the goal. It's the highest quality fight that I could find," fight promoter Russ Jones said.
The Co-Main Event will feature Dionisio Ramirez (8-5) of Indio, CA, and Aaron Mitchell (5-1-1) of Mason City, IA. Jones believes both these fighters have a shot of fighting in the Contender Series in the not-so-distant future.
The card will have five additional pro fights, three amateur title fights, and several local fights. The amateur fight feature top talent from Nebraska, and other Midwest states.
"Those are very high level fights, those guys are not going to stay amateurs very long. I've got, I think, eight or nine local fighters, which I haven't had in a number of shows. Those fights, just because they're local guys, will be good. So, I've got one female fight, and maybe a street fight, so I try to build a card that has a little bit of everything. I like a street fight to show that these guys have no experience, and they kind of look like they have no experience, but they're fun to watch, they're entertaining," Jones said.
Doors open Saturday at 6:00 p.m., and the fighter entrance is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25.
