OMAHA, Neb. (KNOP) - North Platte girls soccer took on Omaha Skutt Catholic in the semi-final of the state soccer tournament in Omaha on Saturday.
Mei Hou scored just three minutes into the game to put the Bulldogs on the board, but the Skyhawks scored three times before halftime to go into the break up 3-1.
Early in the second, Abbie Hedgecock scored on a penalty kick to make the score 3-2, but the Skyhawks added two more goals before the final whistle to win 5-2, ending the Bulldogs' season.
"We turned a lot of heads this year but probably for me the thing I'm proud of is they're not only a great soccer group but they're just very humble young ladies they're fun to coach it's never about what they have individually done it's never about who's had the best game it's always been about what the end of the game looks like and how we've come out," said head coach Sarah Kaminski.
"We have a great group that fights until the end, no matter what the situation is. We played a very talented, and very skilled, and very quick Omaha Skutt team, and the girls went out there and they kept accepting the challenge and working. I think we grew a lot as a team, and each game out we discover things, and we see things that we haven't seen before, and hopefully we take everything we experienced tonight, and take it moving forward for the next season," Kaminski said.
