NORTH PLATTE, Neb. The North Platte Community College Knights Volleyball Team pushed their season all the way to Districts for a very competitive showdown in Bismarck, N.D., ultimately finishing their season with a record of 15-21. After championing the Region IX Tournament in Beatrice, Neb. on their way to Districts, the Knights were the recipients of several regional awards.

Named to the All Region Team were NPCC’s Bailey Chintala, Erica Hopping, Gabby Menghini and Sydney Mullin. Chintala, Hopping, Menghini and Mullin were further honored in being named to the All Region Tournament Team, as well. NPCC head coach Alexa McCall was simultaneously awarded Coach of the Year, rounding out the formal recognition of the Knights’ prowess on the volleyball court.
Chintala provided NPCC with 521 digs, averaging 3.95 digs per set throughout the 2019 season, which earned second in the region.
Hopping had 1,239 assists and 330 digs. Averaging 9.25 assists per set, she also averaged 2.46 digs per set. This earned Hopping the rank of eighth in the nation and second in the region for assists and 15th for assists per set.
Menghini had 416 kills and 314 digs. She averaged 3.20 kills per set and 2.42 digs per set. Overall, Menghini is ranked 14th nationally in total number of kills and she led the region in kills and kills per set.
Mullin had 354 kills, averaging 2.64 kills per set, which earned her second in the region. She also provided 113 total blocks, which averaged 0.84 blocks per set, and was third in the region.
NPCC led the region with 1,541 kills, averaged at 11.25 kills per set, as well as assists with a total of 1,430 and an average of 10.44 assists per set.
