NPCC Women's basketball falls to Northeast Community College

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP)--- The North Platte Community College Knights women's basketball team were defeated by the Northeast Community College Hawks, 76-42, on Tuesday evening at the McDonald - Belton Gymnasium.

The game started out slowly for the Knights, shooting from the field 15. 8 percent, compared to 50 percent for the Hawks. The Knights trailed the Hawks at the end of the first quarter 21-8.

In the second quarter, the Hawks stretched their lead out to 24 points at 33-9 for their biggest lead in the first half. The Knights mounted a rally and outscored the Hawks 12-3 the latter part of the second quarter to cut the Hawk lead to 15 at 36-21 going into halftime.

In the beginning of the third quarter, the Knights cut the Hawks lead to 11 points at 36-25. The Hawks went on a 13-5 run to close out the quarter and lead 49-30.

In the final quarter the Hawks outscored the Knights 16-1 in the beginning of the quarter to take their biggest lead of the game at 65-31, and maintained it the remainder of the game.

Madisyn Francis, from Houston, Texas was the lone player to score in double figures with 14 points. Emily Joseph, from St. Petersburg, Fla., added eight points. Nahatabaa Nacona from Chinle, Ariz., had seven rebounds to lead the Knights.

The Hawks had four players in double figures led by Kyla Moore with 15 points. Macey Kulhanek was next with 13 points. Lauren Hunstad added 11 points, and Teagan Pompa had 10 points. Emina Hadzihusejnovic led the Hawks with eight rebounds.

The Hawks improve to 4-2.

The Knights are in action tomorrow night when they travel to Concordia, Kans. To play Cloud County Community College .
