NPCC splits doubleheader with rival McCook

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The NPCC basketball teams hosted McCook Community College Tuesday for a rivalry doubleheader at McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

In the women's game, the Knights had a 26-23 lead at halftime, but shot just 15.2% in the second half, scoring just 17 points, and lost 58-43.

Ashley Hassett had 17 points for the Knights, hitting nine of 11 free throws, she added eight rebounds.

The men's game required overtime, and Luke Christen's put back layup with eight seconds left gave the Knights the 81-80 win.

Courtney Murrell led the Knights with 28 points. DaVonte Tharpe had 18 points, and Christen and Danilo Matovic each had 11.

The women's team drops to 8-11, the men's team is 6-8. Both teams will head to Trinidad, CO Friday to will play Trinidad State Junior College.
