Nebraska native Diekman traded to Arizona in deadline deal

LINCOLN, Neb. — Wymore, Nebraska native and Major League Baseball player Jake Diekman was traded Tuesday afternoon to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Arizona acquired Diekman, 31, from the Texas Rangers in a deal just before the MLB Trade Deadline of 3 p.m. Central.

A left-handed pitcher, Diekman has a 1-1 record, 3.69 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 39 innings pitched, this season.

The clubs announced the move Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Diamondbacks, Diekman ranks fifth among all left-handed relievers in strikeouts per 9.0 innings (11.04) and seventh in holds (94) in Major League Baseball.
