First year Activities Director Jordan Cudney implemented the event, which was something he held during his time at Cozad high school.
All six of the sports teams had a practice during the day, and took team and individual pictures in the NPHS gymnasium.
"It's a special time, and I know our new athletic director, Mr. Cudney, is really preaching, and wanting togetherness, and I think that's a good word for, not only our individual teams, but all of North Platte," said girls golf coach Matt Kaminski.
"I think it's really great, just as a North Platte athletics department. Our motto this year is 'better together,' and I think this is one of the many things we can do to make that happen, just all coming together," said cross country coach Jake Hasenauer.
After a long summer, the teams are ready to get started with the season.
"It's going to be a good year, we're just excited to get going," Hasenauer said, "Over the summer months, we ended up totaling 5,000 miles as a team, so just real exciting. Good, positive atmosphere, a lot of athletes that are excited to be out, and excited to get rolling and get competing."
"We got a great week of practice to start. I love the character on this team, and the work ethic on this team, and just the unselfeshness is off the charts," Kaminski said, "They're so fun to work with, and it's a group that I think is going to continue to improve as the year goes on, and hopefully we get into that position that we were in last year."
The North Platte fall sports season will start on Wednesday, when the softball team hosts Gering and Adams Central for a triangular.
