North Platte rec leagues to return in late June
The North Platte Rec Center announced this week that summer recreation leagues will be returning in late June.
The Rec Center hosts adult slow pitch softball and sand volleyball leagues over the summer. Softball will have a men's league, and a co-ed league, and sand volleyball will have a women's league and a co-ed league.
Sign-ups are available through the
. Sign-up sheets can be returned via email, or in person when the Rec Center reopens on June 1.
The co-ed sand volleyball league will start June 18, and the women's league will start June 23. The co-ed softball league will start June 22, and the men's league will start June 23. The season will be shortened, because it will be about six weeks behind where it usually is.
Recreation Leader Travis Klein said the Rec Center will enact safety measures to protect the players in their leagues.
"We're going to have some things in place to eliminate as much interaction with the teams as possible, to try to keep people safe, and just kind of follow the guidelines that have already been put in place as of now. Obviously a lot can change before we begin," Klein said.
Klein also said he has heard from a good number of people who want to play in the softball and volleyball leagues.
"We have had a lot of contact from teams. I think everybody is excited to have the opportunity to play. A couple weeks ago, nobody thought we would be able to participate this summer, so the excitement is there," Klein said.
