When asked what factors led to her decision to sign with McCook, Sommer said, "The community aspect of the team. We do a lot of community stuff, and that's really cool."

Sommer also has family in McCook, and likes that she can be close to home, but not too close.

"It's not too far from home, but far enough," she said with a smile.

Sommer will play right side hitter and setter for the Indians, and said the players on McCook, as well as head coach Hayley Kobza factored heavily into her decision.

"I really enjoyed coach, and at tryouts I met some of the team, and they were super nice, and super helpful," Sommer said.

Sommer plans to study to become an occupational therapist.
