Trio of MCC men earn more post-season hoops honors

MCCOOK, Neb. (KNOP) - Three McCook Community College men’s basketball players have received more post-season honors.

Over the weekend freshman Le-Tre Darthard was selected to the Omaha World Herald’s All-Midlands college men’s junior college basketball team. Sophomore Raheim Sullivan received honorable mention and the pair along with sophomore transfer Tyrik Singh were selected to the All Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference team last month.

Darthard, (Denton, Texas) a 6-4 guard/forward, averaged 17.9 points, and 5.5 rebounds per game. He shot 57 percent from the field and made 52 of 121 attempts from the 3-point line (43 percent) and was a 79.7 percent shooter from the free-throw line. He had 31 assists and 39 steals on the season. Earlier this spring he was named first-team all NCCAC team, named to the all-Region IX third team and the Region IX all-tournament team.

Joining Darthard on the World-Herald’s all JUCO first team were: Nebraska commit Teddy Allen of Western Nebraska, Roman Behrens and Tre'vion Crawford of Central Community College; and Emmette Page of Northeast Community College.

In being named honorable mention, MCC’s Sullivan (Toronto, Ontario), a 6-1 guard and sophomore transfer from Moberly Area Community College, averaged 16.5 points per game, shot 47.6 percent from the field, 38.7 percent from the 3-point line and 74.5 percent from the free-throw line. He averaged 4.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. He scored 513 points on the year and had 62 steals. He was previously named to the all-Region IX third team as well as first-team all-NCCAC honors.

Tyrik Singh, 6-7 forward from San Juan, Trinidad and Tobago, was a sophomore transfer from Daytona State and earned First Team All-NCCAC last month. He started 29 of 31 games for the Indians this year averaging 8.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. He shot 47.3 percent from the field and 47.6 percent from the 3-point line.

The Indians went 15-16 during the season under first-time Coach Kyle Drennan, and won five straight games to finish the regular season before hosting and winning a first-round home game in the Region IX tournament where the Indians beat Lamar Community College 89-64. The Indians fell in the second round to No. 15 Western Wyoming.
