NORHT PLATTE, Neb. (KNOPTV) -- North Platte celebrated November's National Adoption Month Saturday with a special event at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
For the fourth year in a row the Department of Health and Human Services helped families who have adopted children in the last year celebrate their accomplishments.
Seven families from several local communities were treated to a day of fun activities designed to say thank you to all those who celebrate permanence through the process of adoption
"Often times we are in a different role when we are involved pre–adoption wise. We're doing casework and paperwork and that sort of thing. So today is just a day do you come and celebrate these families and everything they do for the children," said DHHS Supervisor, April Christensen.
"It just takes a little bit of time it just takes a little bit of space I think there's a lot of people that I can offer those things makes a great impact on the child that you're helping out," Adoptive Parent, Cynthia Curtis said.
