Atkinson Man Pleads No Contest in Infant Son's Death

O'NEILL, Neb. (AP) -- A 26-year-old Atkinson man has pleaded no contest in the death of his infant son.

Tuesday that Michael A. Schroeder pleaded no contest in Holt County District Court to child abuse resulting in death.

He is being held at the Holt County Jail pending his sentence hearing that has been scheduled for May 4.

A court affidavit filed by an Atkinson police officer said Schroeder's son, Kalium D. Ebsen, was taken to West Holt Memorial Hospital on Oct. 26 after he was found unresponsive.

The almost nine-month-old boy was then flown to an Omaha hospital, where he died a few days later.
