NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - We have been very active recently with numerous strong to severe weather events. We have one more Wednesday afternoon and evening, then we will get back to more of a dry, seasonably warm, and sunny pattern that could last through the end of next week-- and it all starts on July 4th. First off, Wednesday brings partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid-80s; t-storms will initiate in the NE Panhandle or our western viewing area. There is the possibility of large hail and some isolated tornado warnings as the storms develop in the afternoon. The activity should form into a line and move west-to-east, giving most of the forecast zone the possibility of damaging winds, heavy rain, and lots of lightning. A Slight Risk is in effect from the Storm Prediction Center, which is 2/5 on the scale. Storms should be out of the viewing area by the 9 or 10 PM hour, with clearing skies overnight.

Then here comes the sunshine, and it will last through most of next week. For Thursday, July 4, highs will be near 80 with mostly clear skies through the day and evening hours. Friday we will be sunny with highs in the lower 80s, which is a little cool for this time of year as average highs are approaching 90.

Saturday and Sunday we will keep mostly sunny skies, with only a 10 chance of moisture both days; highs rise from the lower- to mid-80s through the weekend. Monday and Tuesday also bring mostly sunny skies as the dry pattern continues. Temperatures continue to rise to start next week, as we will be in the mid- to upper 80s. Next Wednesday highs near 89 and sunny skies across Greater Nebraska.
