Elderly man attacked by off-leash dog near senior living community
DEDHAM, Mass. (WCVB/CNN) - An elderly Massachusetts man is recovering after being attacked by a dog
Michael Roberts said that an off-leash boxer attacked him and seriously injured his arm. Roberts said it happened on his 9 a.m. walk along a trail near his home in New Bridge at the Charles Senior Living Community.
“I was stunned to say the least because it was really terrifying. To be knocked down by a big dog and then by being bitten is my worst nightmare,” said Michael Roberts.
Dedham Animal Control is investigating, looking for the boxer and its owner.
Dogs should be on leash, Animal Control wrote on social media.
The doctor discovered that Robert’s orange jacket protected him enough from the boxer’s saliva that he won’t need rabies shots.
“Two were the skin is scraped and bleeding, and the third was more of a puncture wound,” he said.
Roberts said he was too busy fighting for his life to see what the dog’s presumed owner was doing during the attack.
