VOTER’S GUIDE: 2024 Nebraska Primary Election

LINCOLN, Neb. (KNOP) - The Nebraska Primary Election is Tuesday, May 14.

You can find a sample ballot specific to your precinct by entering your information on the Nebraska Voter Check website. Only your registered political party’s candidates will appear on your primary ballot, as well as non-partisan races.

For the first time, Nebraskans will need to show proof of identification, like a driver’s license or state ID, when they vote. View a full list of acceptable forms of photo ID here.

We sent questionnaires to each candidate in the race for U.S. Senate and House of Representatives District 3. Click the links below to view their responses.

Senator Pete Ricketts is running for a two-year term to keep his seat in the U.S. Senate. He faces two Republican challengers: John Weaver and Mac Stevens. Preston Love Jr. is the only Democrat in the race and will advance to the General Election in November.

In January, Gov. Jim Pillen appointed Ricketts to the U.S. Senate following Ben Sasse’s resignation.

Republican Deb Fischer is seeking a third six-year term in the U.S. Senate. She faces a Republican challenger, Arron Kowalski. There are no Democrats in the race but there are two Legal Marijuana NOW candidates: Kenneth Peterson and Kerry Eddy.

Adrian Smith is running for re-election to represent Nebraska’s Third Congressional District. He faces two Republican challengers: John Walz and Robert McCuiston. The winner will advance to the General Election in November to face the winner of the Democratic primary race, either Daniel Ebers or David Else.

Nebraska Legislature races are non-partisan. The top two vote getters in each race will advance to the General Election in November. View legislative maps here to locate your district.
